Walking in Circles
Sermon Notes
[Joshua 5:13-14] When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, "Are you friend or foe?" [14] "Neither one," he replied. "I am the commander of the LORD's army." At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. "I am at your command," Joshua said. "What do you want your servant to do?"
Sometimes we need to be CONFRONTED before we can be COMMISSIONED.
[Isaiah 55:8-9] "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. [9] For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
God doesn’t join our PLANS, He invites us to join HIS.
[Joshua 6:3-5] You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for six days. [4] Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram's horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. [5] When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams' horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town."
The path to the PROMISE always begins with ENDURANCE.
[Hebrews 10:36] Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
Faith means marching even when NOTHING is moving.
[Joshua 6:20] When the people heard the sound of the rams' horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.
The God who calls you to WALK is the God who brings the walls DOWN.
[Joshua 1:9] This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Just because you don’t see PROGRESS doesn’t mean God isn’t WORKING.
