Into the Mountains
Sermon Notes
[Mark 1:35] Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.
You can't POUR out what has not been FILLED up.
[Luke 5:15-16] But despite Jesus' instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. [16] But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.
Busyness is not the same as EFFECTIVENESS.
Private PRAYER always precedes public POWER.
[John 6:15] When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself.
Solitude provides moments of divine CLARITY.
[John 15:5] "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
If Jesus needed to RECHARGE with His Father then so do we.
[Luke 22:41-44] He walked away, about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, [42] "Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." [43] Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. [44] He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.
Jesus choose to SURRENDER in private before walking in VICTORY in public.
[1 John 2:6] Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
To walk WITH Jesus means to walk LIKE Jesus.
