The Call to Awaken

Sermon Notes

Our faith is not meant to be PRIVATE.

[Colossians 4:2] Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Prayer should not be our last RESORT, it’s should be our first RESPONSE.

[Matthew 26:40-41] Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Couldn't you watch with me even one hour? [41] Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!"

If we’re not spiritually ALERT, we can drift away from our PURPOSE.

[1 Thessalonians 5:16-18] Always be joyful. [17] Never stop praying. [18] Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

A thankful heart shifts our focus from our PROBLEMS to God’s POWER.

[Colossians 4:3-4] Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. [4] Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.

When God opens a DOOR you need to have the COURAGE to walk through it.

[Colossians 4:5] Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.

People should SEE Jesus in us before they ever HEAR about Him from us.

[Colossians 4:6] Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.

Our words should be ATTRACTING people to Jesus.
