Resurrection Shockwave
Sermon Notes
The women came to MOURN, but God came to MOVE.
[Luke 24:2-5] They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. [3] So they went in, but they didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus. [4] As they stood there puzzled, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. [5] The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, "Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?
The stone wasn’t rolled away to let Jesus OUT, it was moved so we could LOOK in.
[Luke 24:11-12] But the story sounded like nonsense to the men, so they didn't believe it. [12] However, Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look. Stooping, he peered in and saw the empty linen wrappings; then he went home again, wondering what had happened.
The resurrection is God’s declaration that your FAILURE is not the END.
[John 20:19] That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! "Peace be with you," he said.
Your SIN isn’t stronger than Jesus' BLOOD.
What happened in the TOMB didn’t stay in TOMB.
[Matthew 28:2] Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it.
Jesus didn't ESCAPE death, He DEFEATED it.
[Colossians 2:15] In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.
If Jesus could defeat DEATH he could also defeat SIN.
